The Plateau of Forever in Arduin

The World of Khaas is the dangerous and mysterious realm of David Hargrave, the creator of the well known (some say infamous) Arduin Grimoires.   Arduin is Khaas' most famous nation, but the name Arduin has broken the bounds of just referring to the country.   Over time, Arduin has come to mean the entire fabulous world of David Hargrave's imagination and a game in its own right.   The World of Khaas, Legendary Lands of Arduin is a massive volume based on David Hargrave's work, once and for all throwing wide the gates on the Plateau of Forever; allowing entry not only to Arduin, but into the very world.  Gone are the days of wondering what lays beyond her borders.  Departed are the times when your have dreamed of wandering her dusty trails or foraging in the dangerous woods of the world.  Its landscape is open, unraveled for the eye to behold.  Khaora, the wondrous continent that houses Arduin, is mapped, its geography open to your eye.  Joining it are not only the rest of the civilizations on the continent but also glimpses into the other six continents as well.

World Book of Khaas, Legendary Lands of Arduin cover The World Book of Khaas, Legendary Lands of Arduin is an exciting, 800-page volume—a literal encyclopedia of the world of Khaas, and the country of Arduin.  Within the covers of the volume, you will find a view at the heavens, its constellations and stars.  There are overviews of Khaasian life.  How they refer to time, the movement of day and night, or what calendars they use.  There is an overview of governments, how taxes are collected and dispersed; land ownership, bribery, city layout and more.  This all is there and much, much, more actually.  An entire section of the book spends time discussing the 30 most prominent races of the world.  It goes into some detail about the cultures of each race, their martial arts, secret socieites, and health and disease.  The languages of the world are supplied.  The science and engineering of Khaas is brushed on, with notes on Trade Secrets, Astronomy, Maps, Equipment and Technological items.  There is a lot more than this tucked away with the 800 pages of this book and you can get a look at more that is covered with this peek at the the table of contents.

Khaora is the third continent, home to Arduin and the 74 other ‘civilized’ nations that share the land. From Alazahr to Zirhaine, the nations are covered at some length, with an average of three to five pages for each country.  The write-ups on the countries discuss their important statistics such as population, governmental type, prominent religions, and other such data. They also touch on regional history, the country’s social structure, economics, and other necessary things. A map of the entire continent is provided to show terrain features as well as an additional one showing national borders and the numerous countries by name.  Each national review has an accompanying map, a view that displays prominent terrain features as well as major cities, towns and other preeminent details.  Thus, you can enjoy reading about the infamous and dark lands of Marmachand, the fabulous and somewhat mysterious domain of Tharkhala, and the ever expansive and civilized realm of Viruelandia; the stark, sun-drenched eerie lands of the Dreaming Isles and the white mailed legions of Orguria.  Each land is covered in pages of detail and there are maps for each of the countries, as well as maps of the world, Khaora, and more. In total, the volume has an unprecedented near 100 maps!

Not to be left out, the nexus of it all, Arduin is described in dimensions and detail never before touched up on in previous works. The nexus gates, secret societies, her history from the dim beginnings…this and more lie within the bindings of this massive volume.

Beyond the borders of the civilized regions are places such as the Green Hell, Withered Lands, Great Green Wall, Anvil of the Sun and others.  These are displayed as well and each touched upon in some length. This includes a look into the vast tracks of the great north of Khoara, its wild untamed lands and equally wild inhabitants.

More than the geography, cultures and lands of Khaora are detailed in the World Book.  In the volume are details such as Khaora's (and Khaas') legends, its calendars and ways of reckoning time; diseases (and cures), constellations, seasons, laws, economics and trade; gods and demons, their minions, and pages of history.  Everyone of these and scores of other subjects are spoken on succinctly but in detail enough to please even hardened fans.
