Nabhan - Little is known about Nabhan, other than he was a simple soldier from
Chrysolia for half his life, serving in the employ of one of the sea dukes. Lost at sea during a violent storm, he was
gone from the world for more than a cycle (approximately 19 years). He returned to his native
Chrysolia much changed, wiser and wielding two great swords of power known as the
Peacock Twins of Destruction. He quickly got mired in several political plots ongoing in the capitol. A few years later he fled the country, branded an outlaw after killing the third cousin to the king and nine of his retainers.
Namorand - The Black Jungles of
Namorand are feared by all but the Amazons who dwell in the gloomy
interior. These women are feared beyond even the creatures of the
jungle. Wild and uncivilized, these women are merciless to all who
trespass, giving no quarter to anyone.
Naphalöé - Naphalöé is a
hard country defined by a savage time in its history, which crafted
this land of strict, hard women.
Nastryllia - large
city in north east Talafar
New Kamarden - A small town on the Plains of Paranon noted for little beyond how its rats grow to prodigious size and its network of dizzying mind-bending sewers. Some say the sewers are the remnants of an old city, preceding the formation of the country after the Accords of Arduin.
Nexus - this
reference is twofold. First, it refers to Arduin
as an area of transdimensional and transtemporal
instability that manifests as "gates", which
lead to other places and times. Secondly, it also
means one of those "gates" which lead to
somewhere else or somewhen other. You can read more about the nexus at the
what is the nexus section.
Nexus Gates - this
is the actual terminus end of an unstable (stable) rip
or tear in the fabric of the Multiverse that leads to
another temporal or dimensional region. You can read more about the nexus at the
what is the nexus section.
Nexus Jumpers - Organization in Arduin that investigates nexus gates.
Nexus Storms - this is a widespread, entropic nexus
that usually manifests numerous portals simultaneously over a geographic region or encompasses a region in one nexus effect. The
last one to appear happened in Archaela about 2,400 years ago. You can read more about the nexus at the
what is the nexus section.
Nexus Wars - also
called the Wars of When, this
is a bloody, 10,000 year period in history where nations
across the world clamored for dominion over the small Elven
country of Arduin, home to the
fantastic Nexus Gates. The main call to battle was the
burning avarice surrounding the belief that whosoever
controlled the Arduin Nexus controlled the vast thousands of
worlds connected by the Nexus Gates.
Niabus - Few outside of Deodanths worship this deity. This god is supposedly the manifestation of the End of the Multiverse. This divinity was either brought back or followed the time traveling Deodanths who visited the end of all time and things. Its main aim is the entropic end of everything.
Nine Fangs Temple - The temple of the Azure Order of Chindenadon on the Mountain of Iliek-Kiran. It is renown for its great height, the sheets of ice that adorn its walls and the nine tusks of great size that surround it. Legend says their founder ripped the tusks or fangs from the mouth of a demon so immense, its bulk blanched the sun and rippled the clouds like a leaf on water.
Nine Tooth Sea - An area of the Orichalcum Ocean with murky waters that stretch deeply to the crust of the world. Nine titanic mountains tower out of the waters of this area, like fangs in the jaw of some malignant devil or malevolent god. While geographically startling and quiet enthralling, the area has attracted some truly despicle beings in its time and has garnered quite a terrible reputation.
Nohrqualla - Strongly wedded to ‘Law’ and ‘Good’, this is a southern counterpart to Brabnalda and quite possibly a reflection of the same deity. In T’in T’ai, she is the state religion, but outside of this area she is nowhere as numerically strong or otherwise as important as her ‘sister’ goddess. Nevertheless, she is a well-loved and respected deity.
Northern Polar Cap - The first continent
of the world though few know it and fewer yet can claim to have trekked
its wintry expanse. This continent is more truly a mass of
frozen ice atop barren rock and no portion of the first continent
is untouched by this icy grip. Glaciers form ice shelves along great amounts
of the coastline and floating ice shelves form a portion of the continents
width. Few creatures can survive this degree of constant chill
, or the dry gusts of air moving off the continental interior. Cyclonic
pressure storms, frequent blizzards and harsh terrain are but a few of the common
terrors to these regions.
Northern Reaches - this is the vast untracked vistas of the land north of the
Silver Sea and the nations of
Saast and Azelkha; it includes the interior regions from the east coast and the
Blue Barbarian tribes north of
Ghorfar.
Northern Seas - These waters lay south
of the Northern Polar Cap, east of
Extaercara, and north of Laenkrwat
where it meets the Frothing Cobalt Ocean. The
Northern Seas is the first of two circumpolar oceans
(the second is the Southern Ocean) though
it is much smaller than the watery stretch of the Southern Ocean. Its
closer proximity to other landmasses usually results in ice bridges forming in
extremely cold times of the year. The ocean is persistently cold and has
relatively narrow annual temperature ranges; winters characterized by continuous
darkness, cold and stable weather conditions, and clear skies; summers characterized
by continuous daylight, damp and foggy weather, and weak cyclones with rain
or snow. The center (around the northern polar cap) is perennially
covered with a 10-feet thick polar icepack, though ridges may exceed five
times this size. This ice is surrounded by open sea in the summer but
freezes and more than triples during winter, extending to nearby
landmasses. More than half the ocean is continental
shelf with the remainder basin cut by two submarine ridges.
Ntheisborie - Indigent wizard of
poor reputation, low cunning but with an aggressive and undaunted willingness to
survive. Credited with living through the death, disappearance or
accidents of over 23 adventuring groups. Supposedly he smelled bad, tasted
bad and plain just looked unappetizing to just about any kind of monster!
Nuvineel - A smoky, glass like substance
that is well known for its hardness, resistance to chipping, cracking and caustic substances. The glassy stuff is made from the gooey slime extruded by a garattorgoak bonded into an alloy formed from trace metals and large amounts of carbon. It is approximately twice as tough as steel but is very inflexible, tending to break down rapidly if its underlying structure is damaged. Its value is about five times that of high quality steel. Any item created from this substance is
considered non-ferrous for magnetism or conductivity, and is immune to corrosion
or caustic substances.
Nyx - The Olympic Mysteries
deity of the night; she stands for the darkness of creation and is supposed (in their world creation myth) to have brought order to chaos in order to form the world.
