While the World Book had tons of information about Arduin and its guilds, the Assassins Guild did not get the same amount of coverage as did the other prominent guilds. To remedy this, we decided a short look into how they operate was in order. You can download them via this link:  Arduin Assassin's Guild. While meant solely as an overview, we hope you will enjoy this hard bought information and hope it doesn’t earn you a visit from a few fellows you might mind you knowing...

Mingled in the regional histories of many of the more extant eastern countries are references to the Misty Mountain Wars. This 42-year stretch of history is not only a bloody one for the Misty Isles but also a spur of change for the entire central coastal region of Khaora. It directly spawned one other country and was indirectly responsible for several more. It gave the impetus to the formation of the stone-toothed quays found in the cities and ruins of Aldoré; magikal forces released near the end of that struggle inadvertently formed the Uquiliu Venting and the a poor, foolish and misguided Amazon Priestess of Hekate let loose an evil in the world whose appetite is unquenched still. The wars were indeed a tumultuous time for the region and they ended only through the death of Duchess (and Amazon General) Quotara-la in the sacrificial trees high on Mist Finger Mountain (thus ending her claims to the Mist Wind Throne) and the fleeing of General Avelda (who founded a country of the same name) from the Misty Isles. With these two claimants slain or departed from the scene, soon-to-be Queen Lysippl consolidated the rest of the isles under her iron fist and ended the wars.

Thus, you can see this was a powerful event in Misty Isles history. While it would grow to large proportions and change the course of nation, those who started it had no idea this would occur. Like many other great events this war began as something trivial—so much so it might have swept into the ocean of the past without changing anything if it were not for the critical (though likely accidental) intervention of a few. An unlikely grouping: a Phraint, two Dwarves, an Elf, and a (very slim) Hobbitt saved a smuggler from stoning in Brēll. Their motives were not altruistic by any means, as the fool owed them money (and no small amount either).

This download highlights three of Khaas' more interesting arcane diseases.  The World Book of Khaas spent some time on disease, sickness, and the health of people in the world.  These three didn't find their way into its covers though, more to accident than anything else.  Still, so they won't be lost to the grey, chilling touch of death and forever lost, we present them for you here. You can download them via this link:  Khaasian Arcane Maladies.

Previously, we released David Hargrave's interesting and intriguing notes on the Multiversal Trading Post.  If you would like to view the original article, click here. Otherwise, we have an additional treat. Read on to hear about why you can only have so many accounts open at the MTC...

During a series of unrelated games at David's table, his wife Michelle and her best friend Beth were running a couple of characters on adventures rather frequently. As a result of these adventures they of course earned their share of loot and treasure and, needing a place to safely store it all, began utilizing th e MTC program, including Chits. This continued for some months.

Then one day there was a particularly nasty encounter that badly injured everyone, caused the demise of several magik items, the loss of some big treasure they were after, you know, the usual DM massacre and cutting down to size of PC's that occasionally must happen in order for the game to go on and get folks back to Role Playing. Both Michelle and Beth were amazed to find at the end of it all that not one MTC chit had been even slightly d amaged. This resulted in a series of pointed questions about them that David answered gleefully and in a straight forward manner. All concerned were impressed and delighted to hear the parameters set and to realize thier wealth (at least that kept in trust by MTC) was still in tact. But before the day was over, Michelle got this look in her eye and began passing notes to Beth in the context of character interaction. As such was a common occurence, David suspected nothing.

Thereafter, for several games, maybe about 6 or 8, every single time either of the two girls characters earned, found, won, took or otherwise acquired even the smallest amount of money or loot, they turned it in to MTC and received Chits for it. Finally...David became curious...but he still suspected nothing. Then one saturday as the game got under way Michelle asked two questions that finally got his antenna twitching. The first question was, could the brass chain through the hole be replaced with a more substantial and longer lasting, secure type metal, like say Adamantium.

Well, actually this was a reasonable request/assumption and he answered in the affirmative..of course...makes perfect sense to do so. Then Michelle asked if there were a limit to the number of Chits a person could obtain, the answer to which at the time was, No..its like a bank, you can have as many accounts as you wish. At this point, Michelle said, "Great! I'd like 5,000 Chits and hands over 5,000 GS to MTC. David finally smells a rat and begins objecting, to which both Beth and Michelle point out "But you just SAID"...I think it was because Beth had finally chimed in and was attempting the same thing Michelle was doing that tipped the scales and led him to begin questioning them closely. I was beginning to see the light myself and watching the light over his head grow brighter by the moment was precious.

When finally asked how they expected to be able to carry that many Chits, Michelle proudly announced, "We're going to have MTC weave them into some reinforced Dragon Leather coats and trousers. It'll be the very best Armor money can buy...."

I started laughing my ass off and David sat there stunned to silence for about 30 seconds...the look on his face was a thing of beauty and you could tell he was really shocked at how well Michelle had formulated and executed her plan. Think of it, a suit of armor that's virtually indestructable and almost impenetrable regardless of source or power of the attack, EXTREMELY magik resistant, lightweight, flexible and, when you find your self down on your luck, you can take a Chit off and use it at MTC...

By this time I was rolling on the floor and alternating between clapping and laughing and even David began to see the humor...but he also saw the problem with the MTC chits. Of course he didn't allow the plan to go forward and THAT, my friend, is where the rule about how many MTC Chits you can own came into being...

Emperors Choice and the World of Khaas Web Team provides a rare treat for your perusal. We hope you will enjoy the following piece, which was an interesting and often spoken of organization in Arduin and Khaas.  The write-up  is provided as a "view into the past" and a historical document, and is not part of the World Book of Khaas.  As an artifact harkening back to older game play, we hope both old fans and new ones will find it interesting.

The Multiversal Trading Company (often referred to by its initials of MTC), the focus of this article, was a vehicle found in games ran by David Hargrave and more than one of his devotees, players, and fans. There are numerous tales as to how it began or who started it, and it often seemed no Arduin (or Khaas) game was truly in the fabric of the world if there wasn’t an MTC somewhere. Just as varied as tales of its origins are the ways it seems to appear or conduct its business.

The following overview, however, is transcribed from notes belonging to David Hargrave, provided to Emperors Choice as a portion of the serendipitous turnover of old material from several sources. It is given as written with a few changes for clarity, grammar, or spelling and downloadable via the link provided right here:  The Multiversal Trading Company PDF Download
